Haere Mai! (Welcome)

I find writing relaxing and a good way to formulate my opinions on a range of matters. Creating a blog seemed to be a way of organising my writing and also receving some critical feedback from people who dont know me. You are probably going to be most interested in what I have to say if you are interested in Theology, Philosophy, Situational Ethics, Social Work and Social Justice.

I was born in Australia. I grew up in New Zealand. My Mother is Australian and my Dad is a New Zealander. I married an Australian. My Eldest Daughter (17) is a New Zealander and my youngest daughter (15) is an Australian. We are an Australsian family!!

I am a Social Worker with approximately 16 years experience. Consequenty, I dont often do ‘real’ Social Work anymore as I have been in management postions with government and community service organisations. I like being a Social Worker I think I am siuted to it.

On 1988 I had a road to Damascus conversion to Christianity. I progressed from a happening hedonist to a sober saint after saying the sinners prayer on 8/8/1988 in my lounge room. I had prepared myself by reading the Bible from cover to cover a couple of times while stoned. Dissilllutionment with Marxism, Hedonism, Zen Buddhism, and humanity in general drove me to try and understand the concept of love. I was particularly concerned about how love empowered such an array of impressive people. For example, Te Whiti o Rongomai, Mahatma Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Wilberforce and of couse Jesus. This study pushed me toward Christianity. Up to this point I had been hostile and disrespectful to Christians.
